Improving Teacher Quality in Utah

The Utah Foundation just released a research brief on improving teacher quality in Utah.  Unfortunately, the report finds that Utah teachers are paid based on factors that do not affect student achievement or teacher quality.

Utah's special needs voucher program continues to grow beyond expectations

June 6, 2008

Seven more private schools have become eligible to accept students using the scholarship in the 2008-09 school year, bringing the total number of participating schools to 47.

New law empowering parents, goes into effect

May 5, 2008

House Bill 349, a landmark education bill that empowers parents to choose their child’s public school, went into effect today.  Previous open enrollment laws gave parents some options, but not to the same effect as this new law.

Report finds Carson Smith voucher
program a success

A new report by the Legislative Auditor General finds that parents are highly satisfied with the Carson Smith Scholarship, Utah's voucher program for children with disabilities.
